About Us
Tanvi Mishra is EMpower’s Communications and Influence Manager, based in Delhi. She works at the intersection of storytelling and strategy, shaping how the organisation talks about its work, the communities it partners with, and the young people at the heart of it all. As part of the Impact & Influence Team, she collaborates closely with programme staff to co-create clear, compelling communications rooted in context and reflective of EMpower’s values. Tanvi also leads the organisation’s influence work—helping EMpower show up meaningfully in philanthropic and development spaces, and ensuring its impact is seen, heard, and understood.
Since joining EMpower in 2018, her role has grown organically alongside the organisation, from managing events and operations to building communications systems, strategies, and platforms that carry the richness of EMpower’s work outward. She curates The Quick Take newsletter and Shifting the Narrative blog series, and her work has always spanned regions, drawing on local insights to shape global narratives. She also co-chairs EMpower’s 25th Anniversary Working Group and was part of the Senior Leadership Team Advisory Group that led an organisation-wide process to define EMpower’s values.
Before EMpower, Tanvi worked across journalism and the nonprofit sector. She began as an investigative reporter with the BBC (on a story that later won a Celtic Media Award), followed by stints with National Geographic and The Telegraph. Her shift to the social impact sector began with SNEHA in Mumbai, where she co-authored a research paper and worked on the EHSAS programme with adolescents in Dharavi. At PUKAR, she led various communications efforts, from donor reports to campaigns, with a special focus on their youth fellowship. She has also done English-to-Hindi translation work for Agents of Ishq, one of her favourite creative collaborations.
In her downtime, Tanvi finds calm in unhurried days. Music is a constant in her world, and she’s almost always humming something. She’s deeply moved by poetry and film, supports causes she believes in, and continues learning Spanish at her own pace. Known for her terrible sense of humour and ability to put people at ease, Tanvi tries to bring warmth, curiosity, and authenticity to everything she does.
