About Us
As Development Manager (Asia), Simren helps to advance EMpower’s mission by cultivating partnerships and mobilising resources that strengthen opportunities for young people. She is committed to ensuring youth voices are at the centre of change and to supporting long-term, flexible funding that enables local organisations to thrive and create lasting impact.
Previously, Simren worked at The Majurity Trust, Singapore’s largest independent philanthropic platform, where she led initiatives in children’s education, youth mental health and seniors’ wellbeing: managing funds ranging from $2M to $10M. She also contributed to pioneering national research on homelessness at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy in the National University of Singapore, driving evidence informed policy and public knowledge. Beyond Singapore, she has supported grassroots organisations globally, including pro-bono fundraising efforts in Africa that helped secure over US $300,000 for youth livelihoods and food security.
She holds an MSc (Merit) in Comparative and International Education from the University of Oxford and a BA (Honours) in Politics and Sociology from the University of Cambridge. She is also a Strategic Philanthropy Fellow with the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network and the University of Cambridge.
Outside of work, Simren loves music from all around the world, traveling, practicing yoga and spending time with family and friends. She is deeply passionate about embracing and celebrating the world’s diversity in all its forms.
