Salon Dinner in London: Bridging Finance and Social Impact
Date: May 29, 2025
Location: London, United Kingdom
On May 29, EMpower’s UK Co-Chair, Mary-Therese Barton, and Global Chair, Jeremy Llewelyn, hosted an intimate salon dinner in London, bringing together 15 influential leaders from the finance industry. This thoughtfully curated gathering served as a space for meaningful dialogue around shared purpose and social impact.
We were honoured to welcome Ncazelo Ncube-Mlilo, founder of Phola, a South Africa-based organisation supporting young people affected by trauma and adversity. Ncazelo shared powerful insights into Phola’s work, including their use of the innovative Tree of Life methodology, which fosters healing and resilience within communities.
The evening also highlighted EMpower’s broader commitment to mental health and wellbeing. In South Africa alone, EMpower partners with 22 local organisations focused on mental health, and supports 165 partners globally across education, livelihoods, and health.
This salon dinner was designed as a “friend-raiser,” generously underwritten so that, in true EMpower spirit, 100% of donations continue to go directly to where they are needed most.
At EMpower, we believe in the transformative potential of bringing together the insights of the financial sector with the lived experience and innovation of local civil society leaders. This is where meaningful, lasting impact begins.
