25 Events in 2025: EMpower’s 2025 U.S. Annual Dinner

On May 8, EMpower’s 2025 U.S. Annual Dinner lit up New York City with energy, emotion, and purpose. Over 350 guests representing more than 60 finance firms came together to celebrate 25 years of EMpower and reaffirm our shared commitment to young people worldwide. 

We were proud to honour Abraço Campeão, our partner and the 2025 Champion of Youth. Based in Rio’s favelas, Abraço transforms lives through boxing, education, and holistic support. Founder Alan Duarte brought the room to its feet with a powerful call to action and a reminder of what youth leadership can truly achieve. 

Together, we raised over $1.1 million to power EMpower’s global grantmaking and capacity-strengthening support. We thank our U.S. Dinner Committee, Board of Directors, Leadership Council, generous sponsors: Barclays, MarketAxess, J.P. Morgan, MFS, Morgan Stanley, and our silent corporate donors. 

We’re also grateful to our speakers, Board Chair James Donald, President and CEO Cynthia Steele, and Board Director Osmin Rivera, who grounded the evening with their reflections and vision. 

This night was more than a celebration—it was a spark for what’s next.
